Participation of the Polish unit in Combined Resolve VII was a unique opportunity to work in an internation- al environment. It was also a test for the soldiers and equipment during combat operations that allowed get- ting familiar with procedures of allies. The exchange of impressions will also bring advantage in the future. The opportunity to present the method of operations of own armed forces and the change of commanding sub-units of allied countries allowed verification of the commanding skills of the personnel. Among more important observations, one should mention the American dependence on communication systems. Each American unit had several communi- cation systems (CONET, JCR, TACSAT, FM, HF, CPAF, etc.) at their disposal. Our allies do not know how to use maps (they are unable to read grids from maps). What is more, electronic systems require long setup and are not capable of working one the move (CONET, JCR, CPAF require a satellite connection and setup takes about two hours). The second problem was the requirement to have an open space for the „satellite" to work (visible sky), which totally revealed the battalion HQ. REPORT
