It should be highlighted here, that communication via CONET facilitated sending orders, enabled real-time data transmission, and significantly improved the command, providing data on the location of units on an ongoing basis. It also gave access to a digital map with the location of all elements of the brigade and the enemy. However, it was rather stationary and revealed the location of the HQ. It could not provide communi- cation during movement. The only system that worked regardless the terrain conditions and the time of move- ment was the Polish radio. The Polish battalion changed the position of their HQ at least once a day, which was to the great surprise for the Americans and was recognized by their com- manders. It, however, did not guarantee avoidance of detection and the HQ of the battalion was attacked twice. It was, most of all, caused by the assignment of American elements: personnel was unable to hide several vehicles, it was also necessary to use semi- open areas in order to use the assigned SATCOM de- vices (which could not be hidden under a camouflage net).
