one of the most popular products from arc'teryx's leaF line up is lightweight, insulated atom lt jacket. it comes also in outdoor variant offered in a wider pal- ette of colors, with high visibility deadbird logo and... better price. there are two generations of atom lt available with 2nd generation being the one currently manufactured. OVERVIEW Arc'Teryx's LEAF Atom LT is a lightweight (that is what LT stands for) insulated midlayer jacket that comes from the idea of "down" sweater. As mentioned, it is a warm- ing midlayer worn beneath the outer layer of technical clothing like softshell or hardshell. The main features are low weight and bulk, good thermal insulation and breathability. Of course, nothing prevents it to be used as an independent layer during colder but windless and drydays. Thanks to Durable Water Repellent coating it can stand up a drizzle but nothing more. It works just fine in that role but as a midlayer – nearly perfect. MATERIALS Outer layer is consist of thin yet durable Gossamera™ micro rip-stop nylon. According to the manufacturer specs it is tearproof yet windproof and waterproof. Gossamera has an air permeability of 7CFM with a fluoropolymer-based DWR coating and a very light 'kiss- coat' of polyurethane for light moisture-resistance. Inner layer is a thin slick nylon. Stretchable side panels are made of Polartec® Power Stretch® with Hardface® (88% Polyester, 12% Spandex). The main layer is fila- ment with Coreloft synthetic insulation (60g/m2) pro- viding warmth and comfort. It is made up of two sizes of polyester fiber - the large fiber provides resilience and the small fiber provides air pockets for thermal efficien- cy. It has high loft in its normal state yet compresses down easily. Sleeves are ended with stretch-knit cuffs. The Atom LT comes in Crocodile, Wolf Gray, Ranger Green and Black. www.fragoutmag.com
