After several hours of marching, drills at the shooting range, and similar activities, my feet were in far bet- ter condition than in the case of Salomon Quest 4D. However, you cannot expect miracles. Those are, still, heavy and clumpy boots used during summer, so feet will sweat a little. However, you will not experience the feeling of "boiling feet". The boots, however, are slightly too heavy for my taste and too stiff for standard tactical or urban boots. That model will be a great solution for walks in rural areas, wandering in the mountains, or similar activities. That footwear is simply too clumpy, while the soil is too stiff. For tactical purposes, I also prefer lighter boots since they are more convenient for running. Z-6S are not good for that. When it comes to that category, Salomon XA Pro 3D Mid is the ultimate number one on my list. As for the membrane – it works, that is for sure. Although it is not as good as the marketers claim, because your leg will sweat, yet the comfort after a whole day is significantly greater than in boots with a standard membrane. The membrane Gore-Tex Extended Comfort is to my liking. I would definitely buy a lighter boot with a more flexible sole if it had that very type of mem- brane. LOWA Z-6S is not exactly what I am looking for in boots, at least in terms of using them in urban areas or at the shooting range. So far, the boots do not show any signs of wear and I am sure that they will serve me for a very long time. So, if you are looking for enforced footwear that you could wear for the most of the year and you would not mind heavy boots with stiff sole, that model will most certainly suit you. BOOTS
