battalion received a MILES Multiple Integrated Laser
Engagement System with transmitters and receivers
placed on vehicles, soldiers and firearms.
On 2 - 3 September, a mini-exercise was started, the
objective of which was to let soldiers get familiar with
the terrain and MILES. They were conducted with as-
signed observer controllers and with acting OPFOR
– that task was performed by the American unit that
always plays the role of the enemy during exercises.
At the same time, the Polish battalion HQ participat-
ed in the planning process at the brigade level and
performed its own planning process that resulted in
OPORD (Operational Order)
According to the order of the brigade commander,
US elements were assigned to the Polish battalion:
a mechanized company, an engineer platoon and a
logistics subelements.
