CAEW aircraft equipped with the EL/W-2085 sensor package from Gulfstream and IAI.. Two G550s will be rebuild to AEW for Australia. Apart from that, G550 is also offered to US Air Force as a part EC- 130H Compass Call and E-8JSTARS replacement. Polish Gulfstream G550 will not be equipped with any countermeasures as for now. However, already at the initial stage, it was (optionally) planned to have the possibility of future installations of passive and active ECM systems. Such installations require a reserve of at least 160 kg of weight. In the case of medium-sized aircraft category, Polish MoD received four applications for being admitted to participate in the procurement programs. The participants are: Boeing from United States,Polish Megmar Logistics & Consulting Ltd., the German-Czech Lufthansa Technik AG and Glomex MS s.r.o. consortium and the Slovak-Polish Aerospace International Group s.r.o. and ASSA-Poland consortium. According to the announcement, the tender committee will analyze the submitted documentation. After negotiations, it will choose bid- ders that will be able to place their final offers. At the current stage of the proceeding, bidders have not been obligated to submit infor- mation on the proposed planes. The MoD plans contract award for the first quarter of 2017. The fleet of medium-sized passenger planes will consist of three aircraft: one used (delivery planned by 15 November 2017) and two factory new – the last two will have extended communication systems and countermeasures (delivery by 15 November 2021). The aircraft must allow for transport of 132 passengers in two two classes. They will be maximum five-year-old at the time of placing the offer (this also includes the engines). Its range should allow intercontinental flights with maximally one intermediate stop. The delivery planned for the 2017 should enable efficient transition from lease of Embraer EMB- 175 aircraft (lease ends in late 2017). Until the two remaining air- craft are delivered, EADS CASA C-295M will be used alternatively. The brand-new planes will be configured to take not less than 65 pax on board while the configuration with 30 pax will have ability for conducting intercontinental flights without intermediate stops. What draws attention is that there is no direct offer placed by Airbus, which was considered as one of the two strongest candidates to compete in this tender – it might have something to do with the con- fusion related to H225M Caracal helicopter procurement program canceled by MoD.
