offers a theoretical rate of fire of 550 rpm and an effective range of ca. 5 km. Two examples have been built so far, for Albatros, and Mewa. Another three have been contracted too - for the future Kormoran-class MCMVs. One cannot rule out a situation in which a contract is signed for the sixth example - possibly for the ORP Kormoran vessel (currently armed with the Wróbel II system). The ORP Albatros vessel was originally ordered in December 2017. The first sheets were welded on September 18th 2018, while the keel-laying ceremony took place at the Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. ship repair yard on 5th December 2018. The ship was launched on October 10th 2019. As the MCMV program progresses, it shall also be pointed out that the Ordering Party also received the third vessel on December 21st last year - expected to be named ORP Mewa (603). The Mewa's manufacturing process began on June 19th 2019. The keel was laid on October 10th, 2019, and the vessel was launched on December 17th 2020. The flag-rais- ing ceremony has been scheduled to happen in early 2023. The Mewa would be the fourth vessel bearing the same name. The first ORP Mewa was commissioned in 1921 - it was an ex-German FM class minesweeper, received by Poland as a part of the arrangements made within the framework of the Treaty of Versailles. Back in 1932 the ORP Mewa was re- named to ORP Pomorzanin - and redesigned to act as a sur- veying vessel. On October 25th 1935, the flag was raised on a new Mewa vessel (Jaskółka-class series, manufactured by the Gdynia Shipyard). The warship in question survived WWII, and following the end of the war it returned to Poland. In July 1949 the ship was reconstructed to become a patrol vessel, and remained in service until 1970, under the D-46 designa- tion. The third Mewa was commissioned on May 21st 1967 (206F project minesweeper). It remained in service until 30th December 2019.
