plaSSky'S review I personally prefer high boots. To be honest, I have only high boots in my closet, except for some pairs I use to jog, ride a bicycle, or train at the gym. All of my shoes I wear with a suit have high uppers. Why do I wear them? Because they are very, very comfortable and, apart from that, the design of high boots brings rest to my Achilles tendons since they are not grazed, pinched, and I do not feel di- scomfort in that part of my feet, which, in case of selecting footwear, is the key factor for me. I must admit that I did not expect the desert boots Meindl Equator to provide such a high level of comfort. I was po- sitively surprised with the design of the upper that allowed free movement of the ankle and, at the same time, perfec- tly clung to my legs above the ankle. When properly laced, with good socks of correct thickness, Equators become a great companion for long walks (I had no doubts about that). However, which is peculiar, boots did well in case of driving a car, both under conditions of everyday driving in an urban area, as well as on a long route (Warsaw-Paris- Warsaw). Well, I had some doubts concerning performan- ce of those boots at high temperatures during summer. However, I was very positively surprised in that matter as well. On days when the temperature was around 30°C, bo- ots provided pleasant warmth and I did not feel any ther- mal discomfort. If I had been wearing other, similar boots, I would have felt as if wearing two micro-saunas. Here, I must admit that the weight of the boots influences the comfort of wearing them. I may safely say that those bo- ots are of „lightweight" class in that category. I did not treat them too kindly, I just simply wore them, sometimes on several days in a row. They were a great companion during several-hour walks at the Parisian fare halls, several-hour walks on sandy beaches by the Baltic Sea, and, of course, in the asphalt and concrete urban jungle. During my stay by the Baltic Sea, I could not resist the childlike temptation to go into the water. Equators survived that test without any problems, bravely repelling the pressure of Baltic waves. I survived that struggle with dry (!) feet. It is a huge advan- tage of those boots – they do not fear water, both sea wa- ter and rainwater. Why? On one occasion, I left them on the terrace and a downpour filled them with a several-cen- timeter thick layer of water over the night. I poured the water off, took inserts out, and the boots quickly got dry in the sun. Meindl Equator www.fragoutmag.com
