BASIC TECH SPECS OF APA-5 Casmaterial: aluminium Weight: 9,1 kg Dimensions: 27,2 x 12,7 x 36,6 cm Typical reach height: 427 m ASCENDER Weight: 6,6 kg Max lift capacity: 272 kg Ascent/descent speed: ariable, 0–0.76 m/s BATTERY Weight: 3,5 kg Possibility of replacing the battery at depth and during work TESTS, EvAluATioNS, AND CERTifiCATES meets relevant IMCA standard for safe use of electricity underwater; meets the standard for safe use of Energized System at Operational Maritime Depth by U.S. Navy Experimental Diving Unit; NAVSEA 9310 Certified by US DoD; US DoD - Certification for Operational Use; MIL-STD 810F, MIL-STD 167. mechanism that al- lows independent and safe descent in case of a break- down of the device or a discharged battery. A peculiar option is the possibility of remote control of the device via two types of waterproof controllers. One of them con- nects with APA-5 via a wireless via encrypt- ed Wi-Fi connection with the range even up to 100 m, while the second type of controller is connected with a cable. Such a solution increases the range of possibilities for the use of the ascender, e.g. to transport equipment, evacuate an unconscious or injured person, or a person that does not know how to use such a device. The controllers also allow choosing the speed of folding and unfolding the rope. Of course, both the manufacturer and the user does not limit themselves by using APA-5 only at the sea. This de- vice will perform just as well in actions requiring use of ropes in an urbanized area (both rope descents, as well as evacuations from high buildings), in the mountains, water crossings, rescue operations (including natural disasters), or even on board of helicopters that do not have a rescue hoist– APA-5 may be used as its alternative during evacuation operation. Depending on the expected profile of us- age, the manufacturer delivers ascend- ers with different accessories, e.g. with an additional front cover that is used to fix the ascender in the ground or board. It is possible to quickly dismantle APA-5 when it is necessary. Optionally, one might buy a battery with larger capacity may be bought, which will extend the op- eration time of the device, and a special adapter adjusted to work with ropes of 6-8 mm in diameter.
