On Polish side, the main contractor will be ZM Bumar- Łabędy SA, while on German – Rheinmetall Landsysteme. The project will also include other companies like Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH (responsible for modification of the Rh120 main gun) and Rheinmetall Defence Electronics GmbH (upgrade of EMES-15A1 gunner's sight). The task of another German entity, IBD Deisenroth Engineering GmbH, is to provide add- on armor for the turret and spall liners. Airbus DS Optronics GmbH will modify the PERI-R17A1 sight and Jenoptik Defence & Civil Systems ESW GmbH – will provide E-WNA armament electric drive units. The new firefighting system will be manufactured by Kidde- Deugra Brandschutzsysteme GmbH. German companies are obligated to provide parts to their Polish partners with whom they will cooperate during completion of components and devices, as well as during final assembly on upgraded vehicles. The Polish contractor for the supplier of the armor system will be Rosomak SA, while ZM Tarnów SA should produce and provide components for E-WNA drives. Thermal camera and rear-view camera will come from PCO SA. The OBRUM will be engaged in repairs and modernization of simulators and training aids of the Polish Leopard Training Center. The contract was awarded for 128 tanks upgrades. The finalization of works is scheduled for November 2020. Optionally, it is possible to modernize another 14 tanks (the deadline will be then extended to November 2021). In total, 142 Leopard 2A4 tanks might be upgraded. As a part of the upgrade contract, deliveries MES- 3 special maintenance tools have also been planned, which would allow repairs of tanks throughout the whole lifetime, modification, or preparation of technical documentation of the vehicle, simulators and training aids, as well as training for crews, instructors, and technical personnel. The contract with the MoD only covers the upgrade of tanks, while on the basis of a separate agreement, the Polish main contractor of the modernization will, at the same time, be responsible for inspections and renovations of Leopard 2A4 tanks at F6 level, as well as restoring their full technical efficiency (in cooperation with WZM that will conduct works around drive units).
